Ray Oram
Ray's been playing his mellow tenor sax with Ted Knight and Knight Music for more than twenty years.
Ray learned long ago that it doesn't have to be loud to be good. Ted likes to tell how even though he and Ray once had to play within arm's length of the nearest table at a French restaurant, the guests were still able to enjoy normal conversation.
He shines like a pearl on velvet when he plays ballads, but he can also swing. Give him the green light on a number like "Rock Around the Clock," and watch him go. In fact, Ray was the sax man called on for most of the 50s and 60s rock and roll record dates in his home town of Philadelphia.
Gigs
with Knight Music include trios and quartets at the Little Club in Gulf
Stream, the annual big band concerts at
Lantana Airport, and with Ted's orchestra for
John Knox Village in Pompano
Beach (right).
