Bride a catering manager
Ted Knight and the World's Smallest Big Band played for a
wedding at the Marco
Island
Yacht Club. The second-floor banquet
room offered a picturesque view of the Gulf, the bridge to the mainland, and the
many boats at anchor.
The bride, a catering professional with the Hyatt
Grand in Washington, DC, was specific in her musical
requests - "plenty of Sinatra and Ellington, and no YMCA" -, and
Ted was glad to oblige with a mix that included songs like "Don't Get Around
Much Any More” and “The Way You Look Tonight.”

A red rose for each musician
When a little girl asked for something fast so
she could dance with her daddy, Ted packed the dance floor with “In the Mood.”
Requests for “Margaritaville,” "Volare" and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” were
just as popular as “Stardust” and “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” and everyone had
fun.
The band included
Paul Magersuppe on sax and
David Gibble on trumpet and fluegelhorn,

At the end of the evening, the little girl gave each of the musicians a red
rose, and later, an email from the bride left no doubt as to how she felt about
her wedding band.
"We just have to let you know that the Ted Knight
band completely made our reception last month! We knew the music would
be great, but our expectations were blown away. As a catering manager in DC, I
rarely see a band that can get every last guest onto the dance floor as you
all did with our wedding...Please let me know if we can ever be of assistance
in recommending your service to others!"
 Ted's band
has played for more weddings at the yacht club, adding vocalist Evelyn Russell.
At one wedding, the Knight Music Trio
also
played chamber music for the wedding ceremony, and drummer
Kevin Campfield added his vocal talents to
the mix for the reception.
Marco Island is located near Naples in
southwest Florida. [map]
