 Meet Virginia
Ted Knight's
ten-piece orchestra played to a sunset view of the 18th hole at Pelican's Nest
Golf Club for
a wedding at Bonita Springs on the Florida Gulf coast.
The
bride surprised her guests with
a rock song by Train
for the first dance with her new husband instead of
the usual romantic ballad. The song was "Meet Virginia," which is her name. The wedding party jumped up to join them on the
dance floor, and everyone knew this wedding would be a lot of fun, right from
the start.
The dinner set featured jazz solos by all four horns
on Duke
Ellington's "Things Ain't What They Used to Be." A tropical change of
pace was provided by "I Can See
Clearly Now" and "Jamaica
Farewell," and guests from France
enjoyed an improvised "Theme From Moulin Rouge" by request. After
dinner, Tom Willis brought dancers to the floor with "Got My Mojo
Workin" and "My Girl." A conga line wove its way around the room as Tom sang "Mustang
Sally."

Can't stop dancing
Ted
led four-part vocal harmony on "Joy to the World," and dancing reached a fever pitch
during Geoff Schiffrin's
drum solo on "Sing Sing Sing." One guest was heard to say, "Best band I EVER heard at
a wedding!"
Romantic moments included "Always and
Forever" and "New York State of Mind." As the band played "What a Wonderful
World" to end the evening, guests joined
the bride and groom on the darkened dance floor. During the last verse, Tom sang
to a toddler on his daddy's shoulders, a memorable end to a wonderful evening.
Afterward,
the groom told Ted that he and his bride had originally booked another band.
Then a friend from Miami mentioned the Knight Music web site. They listened to
Ted's demos and liked the music so much they booked his band, even though it meant forfeiting a deposit with
the first group. The groom said they were delighted with the results and would be glad to
recommend Knight Music.
Bonita Springs is located
near Naples on the Florida Gulf Coast.
