The first quarter of 2008 was the busiest
ever for Knight Music.
The Ted Knight Big
Band played for a breakfast concert at
Lantana
Airport. Ted's
eight-piece orchestra played for the Navy League Ball at the
Westin Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, and for the Boca Grande Pass Yacht Club
Commodore’s Ball on the
Florida
Gulf coast.
Ted’s trio and quintet played dates at the
Boca Raton Marriott for Mutual of America, a New York insurance
company. The six-piece Dixie Ramblers played New Orleans jazz for a Mardi Gras party at
Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Tequesta.
Ted's trio played for
a dance at St. Andrews Club in Delray Beach
and a party at the Country Club of Florida in the
Village
of Golf, and he and
guitarist Bob Hanni played as a duo for a St. Patrick’s Day
party at a luxury condominium in Gulf
Stream.
Big band wedding
The nineteen-piece
Ted Knight Big
Band played for a November 2007 wedding for a couple from
Washington,
DC at Saddlebrook Resort near Tampa. The bride and
groom chose a mix that included uptempo Basie swing, jazz from
Miles Davis and Thelonius Monk, and soul from Otis Redding and
Diana Ross.
Vocalists
Evelyn
Russell, Tom Willis and Kenny Seabrook made the trip from
southeast Florida with Ted and several key players.
Tampa-area musicians on the date included David Pate on tenor
sax, Herb Bruce on trombone, and drummer Jean Bolduc. Lead alto
saxophonist Simon Hutchings traveled from
Palm Coast (near
Daytona Beach) to play the gig.

The Ted Knight Big

Kevin Campfield
and Evelyn Russell sang with Ted's ten-piece orchestra for a
90th birthday at the Sheraton Suites Cypress Creek in
Fort Lauderdale. The daughter of the
guest of honor found the band by Internet from
New York.
The World’s Smallest Big
Band made their first trip out of state, playing for a
summer wedding in
Gulf Shores, Alabama. The band also played for dances at
Royal Palm Yacht Club in Boca Raton and at the Country Club of Florida at the Village of Golf,
and for weddings at Fairchild Tropical Gardens
in Coral Gables and at the Sundy
House B&B in Delray
Beach.
The
Ted Knight Quintet released a jazz album entitled

Delray High School at Delray Dunes Country Club, and a

held at Royal Palm Yacht Club in Boca Raton. Guitarist

Ted played
disc jockey
for a graduation party at the Colony Cabana Club in Delray Beach. It was a joint celebration for
three girls graduating from St. Andrew’s School in Boca Raton, and Ted was delighted to
discover that his band had played for the wedding of one girl’s
parents in the 1980s.
A 1940s fashion
show at the Sundy House B&B featured swing music from Knight
Music DJ Glen Rovinelli, followed by live music for dancing from
